New York Yankees fans anxiously awaited the return of Aaron Judge, hoping he would solve the team’s problems. On Tuesday night, Judge returned against the Colorado Rockies but had a disappointing performance. Fans expected better after his 100-day absence due to injury, but Judge’s 0-for-3 outing with two strikeouts was not the hoped-for result.
Judge, out since May 31 with a right rib stress fracture, resumed his familiar role in right field and batted third. After a lackluster showing where he struck out twice and was pulled after six innings, it was clear this was not the dramatic return fans anticipated.
Surprisingly, Heliot Ramos took center stage in Judge’s absence. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Ramos took Judge’s spot in the batting order. He hit a decisive three-run homer that shifted the game in favor of the Yankees, securing a 5-3 victory.
With the Yankees trailing the Tampa Bay Rays in a competitive AL East race, Judge pushed for a return to major league action. The team saw this series as a controlled way to ease him back in, but the initial showing was far from inspiring.
During Judge’s 84-game absence, the Yankees struggled, managing only a .227 team batting average. His return was highly anticipated as a turning point, but his swing remains rusty.
