All Elite Wrestling (AEW) will present a special episode of “Dynamite” to support wrestler Tanea Brooks, also known as Rebel, who is fighting ALS. The event, “Rebel Heart,” will take place at the Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia. Since Brooks announced her diagnosis in May, AEW and the broader wrestling community have shown strong support.
Wrestling stars from various promotions have promoted “Rebel Heart” T-shirts and participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds and awareness. AEW’s owner Tony Khan spoke about the event in August, after ROH’s Death Before Dishonor in Philadelphia. He highlighted Brooks as a cherished member of the AEW family, noting the importance of hosting this event in her honor.
“Rebel’s been a great friend to all of us and a great part of AEW from the very beginning,” Khan said. “We haven’t seen Rebel on AEW TV in a long time, but it’s going to be great to have an episode dedicated to Rebel, fighting this terrible disease, ALS.”
Brooks shared her diagnosis publicly on May 1. In a heartfelt video, she explained her condition and expressed gratitude for the support she has received. Her involvement with AEW began in 2019 in a backstage role before transitioning to an on-screen presence in 2020 as Britt Baker’s personal makeup artist.
Brooks started her wrestling career with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in 2013 and appeared in Ohio Valley Wrestling, Stardom, and briefly in WWE. “Rebel Heart” promises an engaging lineup with matches such as:
- Will Ospreay vs. David Finlay in an AEW World Championship elimination match
- Darby Allin and Steven Borden vs. Mark Davis and Josh Alexander
- AEW World Trios Championship match: Swerve Strickland, Kofi, and Austin Creed vs. Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reily, and Roderick Strong
- Women’s trios match featuring Maya World, Hyan, Thunder Rosa and others
- The Young Bucks vs. Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight in a tables match
Additionally, Brooks is expected to appear in a segment called “The Waiting Room” with Baker. The event aims to support ALS research and honor a beloved member of the wrestling community.
