New York Jets owner Woody Johnson will be honored at the Tunnel to Towers annual gala later this year. He will receive recognition for his decade-long partnership with the organization.
Tunnel to Towers, established in 2001, supports 9/11 first responders, veterans, and their families. The organization provides mortgage-free smart homes to disabled servicemen and housing for homeless veterans.
Johnson began his philanthropy with Tunnel to Towers in 2014 by donating $1 million to the Building for America’s Bravest program.

Last month, Johnson and Tunnel to Towers provided Command Sergeant Major William “Bud” McElroy with a mortgage-free smart home. Johnson expressed his admiration for the organization’s work in converting grief into action to honor heroic sacrifices.
Tunnel to Towers Chairman and CEO Frank Siller commended Johnson for his unwavering support. Due to his contributions, six catastrophically injured veterans enjoy specially adapted smart homes, and many first responder families retain their homes.
In a statement, Siller mentioned that Johnson’s actions mirror those of his brother Stephen, who also ran toward people in need. He emphasized Johnson’s deserving receipt of the Follow the Footsteps Award at the gala in December.
The gala will honor Johnson in December. He previously served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom during the Trump administration and is a founding trustee of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
