Tom Homan Criticizes Calls to Abolish ICE Amid Record Enforcement
Tom Homan, a prominent figure in border enforcement, strongly criticized progressives seeking to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) amidst record-breaking enforcement actions. He highlighted the agency’s recent achievements, underlining that seventy percent of detainees are individuals with criminal convictions. Additionally, Homan pointed out ICE’s crucial role in rescuing over 150,000 children from smuggling operations, warning against the disastrous consequences of dismantling the agency.
EXCLUSIVE INSIGHTS: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has disclosed to Fox News Digital that ICE has deported over 2,000 individuals identified as known or suspected terrorists since January 2025 when President Donald Trump assumed office. This revelation comes as the nation approaches the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Between January 20, 2025, and September 9, 2026, ICE arrested more than 2,150 terrorists, deporting 2,015 of them during this period. Markwayne Mullin, DHS Secretary, noted, “As we reflect on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the brave men and women of ICE continue to carry out their duty to protect the homeland and keep the American people safe.” The department stressed their commitment to unyielding vigilance.
BIGGEST ARREST MONTH IN HISTORY: Under the Trump administration’s immigration push, ICE achieved its largest arrest month in history. ICE agents, alongside other federal enforcement units, convene for pre-enforcement meetings, exemplified by their Chicago gatherings.
ICE had arrested over 2,100 terrorists, with more than 2,000 deportations, marked by dedication and the department’s vigilance. DHS referred to recent cases concerning alleged terrorists, including members of designated foreign terrorist organizations.
TERROR PLOT CONTROVERSY: Among recent arrests, Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, identified by DHS as a Mexican national and suspected ringleader of an alleged plot against UFC Freedom 250 at the White House, was apprehended in June. Alvarez overstayed his visitor visa, which expired in 2001, later benefiting from DACA in 2014. ICE placed a detainer after his capture.
In a similar vein, Felipe Linares De Oliveira Dell Aquilla, a Brazilian national and former leader of two designated foreign terrorist groups, was detained in North Carolina. Authorities retrieved a handgun, cash, and multiple electronic devices amid a vehicle and foot pursuit. Aquilla faced extortion and criminal association charges in Brazil and was accused of detaining his wife against her will while plotting to leave for Mexico.
GANG MEMBER ARRESTS: The Trump administration reported over 10,000 suspected gang members arrested by federal authorities nationwide. Four Venezuelan affiliates of Tren de Aragua pleaded guilty in May concerning charges from a 2024 Bronx shooting that ended in two fatalities. DHS confirmed all four had crossed into the U.S. illegally between 2022 and 2023.
25 YEARS SINCE 9/11: As the nation anticipates 25 years since the 9/11 attacks that claimed nearly 3,000 lives in New York City, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania, the attacks necessitated a major overhaul of the nation’s security framework, establishing DHS in 2002 and ICE in 2003. This anniversary not only commemorates the victims and first responders but also marks a quarter-century of ongoing efforts to avert another substantial terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
