Confrontation at NYC 9/11 Memorial
In New York City, a firefighter confronted a pro-Palestinian agitator near Ground Zero. The incident occurred during a 9/11 memorial ceremony. The agitator wore an Elmo costume and a Palestinian flag, drawing criticism from the firefighter who labeled the act as “anti-American.” A video by Turning Point USA captured the exchange, which included the firefighter telling the agitator to “go back to Palestine.”
The altercation included references to former President Barack Obama and other officials, suggesting they should leave as well. The confrontation ended with bystanders shouting comments about genocide. The source of these remarks was unclear.
Attempts to reach both the FDNY and Turning Point USA for comments have been made. In response, the FDNY clarified that the person in the video is not affiliated with their department.
The event coincided with the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Ceremonies took place at multiple locations, including the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania. Many dignitaries attended the ceremony, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Gov. Kathy Hochul.
