Professional wrestling thrives on fast-paced action and captivating storylines. When fans invest emotionally, the sport becomes exceptionally engaging. A key element in wrestling is unpredictability. Even if outcomes are pre-determined, the uncertainty gives fans a thrilling experience.
WWE showcased these elements during an event on Saturday night in Santiago, Chile. Although the event started as a routine house show in South America, it evolved into a memorable evening. Stephanie Vaquer, a Chilean wrestler, faced Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship, with Becky Lynch serving as a special guest referee.
House shows typically feature untelevised matches where champions defend titles or face rivals. These events often have little impact on ongoing storylines when fans watch weekly shows. However, this particular house show made history when Vaquer defeated Morgan.
Morgan showed frustration with Lynch’s officiating during the match, pushing and slapping the guest referee. As Morgan refocused on Vaquer, she was hit with a thrust kick. Vaquer aimed to finish Morgan off, but Morgan countered with an Oblivion move. Yet, Lynch stopped the count, signaling her disapproval. Vaquer seized the opportunity and executed her Vaquer Inferno move from the top rope, securing a pin. This victory marked her second reign as champion.
Vaquer initially won the title at Wrestlepalooza against Iyo Sky and held it for 210 days until Morgan claimed it at WrestleMania 42. Morgan’s reign lasted 147 days before Vaquer’s victory in front of her home crowd.
As Vaquer celebrated her win, other wrestlers, including Lynch, set sights on the championship belt. Vaquer’s triumph in Chile held special significance, showcasing her skill and determination. Currently, she reigns supreme in WWE’s women’s division.
