Riot Fest organizers decided to conclude Saturday’s events earlier than planned because of forecasts predicting storms in the Chicago area. Around 3:30 p.m., an announcement was made stating that, in collaboration with the City of Chicago, the festival would end early to ensure the safety of fans, performers, and staff. Attendees are encouraged to monitor Riot Fest’s social media and their official website for the latest updates. The plan for Sunday remains unaltered at this point.
Many fans at the park were initially unaware of the change due to limited cell service. The revised schedule meant some acts had their set durations reduced to just 20 minutes. This adjustment resulted in the cancellation of Afroman’s performance. The festival aimed to finish around 7 p.m., with Tool headlining at 6 p.m. During his performance, Bob Mould from Sugar humorously remarked, “Who knows who’s up next!” before leaving the stage.
Jessi Roti, a freelance critic, provided these updates on the festival’s developments.
