The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has concluded that a planned 250-foot triumphal arch, proposed by President Donald Trump, will not create a hazard for aviation. The proposed location for the arch is near Memorial Circle in Arlington, Virginia.
In its aeronautical study, the FAA highlighted the necessity for the structure to be visible to pilots. To achieve this, the study recommends installing a “non-standard eternal flame,” ensuring pilots can swiftly identify the arch from the air. Additionally, it suggests surrounding the arch’s base with searchlight projectors to keep it continuously floodlighted.
This lighting design aims to increase the arch’s visibility and ensure it does not pose any threat to aircraft passing over the area.
