The increasing affordability crisis in the United States has raised numerous concerns regarding the fairness of wealth’s influence on society. One pressing issue is the perception that being wealthy affords individuals a different set of rules and privileges.
The advantages of wealth are noticeable in many aspects. Individuals with money enjoy courtside seats, luxury vacations, and, more significantly, substantial influence on democratic processes. This has become evident in political contributions, which impact elections and policy decisions.
Corporate political spending has reached unprecedented levels in the current election cycle. Companies have already donated $646 million to federal races. This figure represents a 40% increase compared to all corporate spending during the 2024 presidential cycle. The 2024 cycle itself had previously set records for corporate political contributions.
