Civilian Detained After Violent Incident at MacDill Air Force Base

A civilian was detained outside MacDill Air Force Base in Florida on Saturday following an altercation with security personnel. The 6th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office reported the incident.
The civilian breached the security perimeter of the Tampa base around 1 p.m. This led to a physical confrontation with security officers, causing non-life-threatening injuries to both the assailant and an officer, according to FOX 13 and WTSP-TV.
The base announced on Facebook that the Dale Mabry Gate was closed to all traffic shortly after the incident. They advised avoiding the area until further notice.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
The U.S. Central Command headquarters is located at MacDill Air Force Base. The base has not disclosed the reasons behind the altercation.
