Steven Borden, son of wrestling legend Sting, made his debut at an All Elite Wrestling (AEW) pay-per-view event by teaming with Darby Allin against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher at the All Out event. Borden has been gaining recognition in wrestling, partly due to his resemblance to his father. He and Allin aimed to become the top contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championship, looking to secure championship gold soon.
During the event, Borden and Knight attempted a high-risk move from the turnbuckles. Knight seemingly executed his maneuver successfully, but Borden fell and hit his head on the mat. The referee halted the match, resulting in Knight and Fletcher being declared victors.
AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone provided an update on Borden’s condition, stating he was conscious and responsive before being sent to the hospital for further evaluation.
AEW owner Tony Khan also commented on Borden’s condition after the event, saying, “Thankfully, Steven Borden is awake and responsive at the hospital. He had a CT scan, and all tests have shown positive results.” Khan added hopes of Borden returning home soon to his family.
The incident highlights the risks in professional wrestling, akin to injuries seen in other sports. Fans and fellow wrestlers hope for Borden’s swift recovery and return to the ring.
As a result of their victory, Knight and Fletcher will face off against the Young Bucks, Nick and Matt Jackson, who secured the tag team titles in a recent ladder match.
