Solo Travel Gains Momentum as More Seek Independence
The trend of solo travel is on the rise, capturing the attention of an industry traditionally geared toward pairs. More travelers seek the independence of traveling alone while still wanting social interactions and activities during their trips.
According to Google, online searches for ‘solo travel’ reached record levels in April 2026. In particular, searches for ‘women solo travel’ hit a 15-year peak. These statistics reflect a growing interest in individual adventures and experiences.
Hilton’s 2026 trends report provides further insight. It revealed that 26% of travelers planned to embark on a solo journey this year. Additionally, nearly half of these individuals intended to incorporate solo days at the beginning or end of family trips. This indicates a strong desire for personal time amidst scheduled holidays.
