Smithsonian Prepares for America 250 Celebration Amid Scrutiny
Secretary Lonnie G. Bunch III, along with colleagues, has co-curated an exhibition titled “American Aspirations.” This comes as the Smithsonian Institution faces federal scrutiny. Bunch clarifies, “This is not a rebuttal.”
Today marks ongoing preparations for a new pavilion as part of the America 250 celebration on the National Mall. The iconic Smithsonian Castle serves as the backdrop.
At the site, construction teams are busy working on a representation of American history endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Dubbed the Great American State Fair, this gathering promises to be a grand 16-day event. Guests can expect concerts, carnival rides, and exhibits that reflect the uniqueness of different states.
The fair aims to commemorate elements of “AMERICAN GREATNESS” and celebrate aspects like “our heritage, our flag, and our glorious American freedom.”
