Jared Kushner Criticizes Misleading CNN Report on Middle East Investments
Senior Trump advisor Jared Kushner strongly criticized CNN for publishing what he described as a “deeply misleading story and headline” concerning his diplomatic work in the Middle East and investments in Israeli defense companies. Kushner, who rarely publicly challenges media outlets, took to social media to counter the report’s claims.
The controversial CNN report, titled “How Jared Kushner’s firm’s investment in an Israeli company could be a major conflict of interest,” suggested a potential conflict due to Kushner’s company’s investment in an Israeli firm linked to military activities while he was negotiating during the conflict in Gaza.
Kushner expressed on social media that CNN’s report was misleading and buried key information behind a paywall. He mentioned that CNN acknowledged no direct impact of his actions as a diplomat on the reviewed investments.
CNN’s report claimed there was no evidence showing Kushner’s actions in his diplomatic role directly affected investments but discussed financial ties using Israeli transparency laws. CNN traced Phoenix Financial’s military-linked investments, showing ties to Elbit Systems and other military equipment providers.
Despite the report’s findings, Kushner defended his company’s actions, explaining that Phoenix is a highly regulated financial institution managing funds akin to Vanguard or Fidelity, with no direct influence over military investments.
He emphasized Affinity’s investments in Phoenix are longstanding and public, dating back before his return to public service, and defended the firm’s performance and ethical standards.
Kushner underscored the importance of his diplomatic work, insisting misleading narratives would not deter him from helping to promote peace and cooperation.
A CNN spokesperson maintained the accuracy of their reporting, after Kushner responded to the cycle of misleading stories concerning his diplomatic and business activities by asserting the need to address inaccuracies.
