The Buffalo Bills got some positive injury news following their thrilling 29–26 defeat to the New England Patriots on Sunday. Wide receiver DJ Moore exited the game in the second quarter after landing hard on his left shoulder during an attempted pass from quarterback Josh Allen. This shoulder had already been a concern for Moore since he initially injured it in Week 2. While he did not miss any games, he had been limited in practices.
The concern after Sunday’s game was that Moore’s injury might force him to miss future games if aggravated. Though Moore did re-aggravate his shoulder, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday night that it is not currently regarded as a long-term issue.
This is encouraging for both the Bills and Moore, as there remains a possibility for Moore to play in Week 5. The Bills benefit from an additional rest day this week, as they will face the Los Angeles Rams on ‘Monday Night Football.’
Buffalo will rely on Moore’s presence against the inconsistent Rams next week. Before his injury, Moore had been leading the Bills in receiving, recording 11 receptions for 167 yards three weeks into the season. Following Moore’s early exit on Sunday, Keon Coleman became the top receiver, amassing 217 yards this season.
Coleman now has the chance to make Bills’ owner Terry Pegula reconsider his words from January when Coleman’s draft in 2024 stirred some controversy. Due to performance concerns, Coleman had been inactive for multiple games last season. However, with Buffalo’s acquisition of Moore from the Chicago Bears in the offseason, Moore was anticipated to be Allen’s primary target. Coleman aims to prove he is a solid secondary option.
