A 4-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to his head in a home on the Far South Side. The incident occurred late Tuesday afternoon, as reported by authorities. Police responded to a call on the 2200 block of East 99th Street in the South Deering neighborhood. Officers found the boy with the injury around 4 p.m.
The child was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. He was initially in critical condition, according to police. At the scene, authorities recovered one firearm.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating the circumstances of the shooting. The investigation aims to uncover how the incident transpired.
