Krisitan Chadick, a junior defensive end from Carmel, delivered his first two sacks of the season during a key game. This occurred between his visits to Penn State and Illinois, underscoring his growing reputation. Chadick highlighted this moment, saying, “That’s the perfect example of me being in the zone during a game where I feel like I was really making my presence known.”
Colleges have taken notice. Iowa extended Chadick his first Division I offer, setting off a surge of interest from other schools. Notable offers now include Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, North Dakota State, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, and Vanderbilt. Upcoming visits are planned to Kentucky and defending national champion Indiana. Chadick remarked, “It feels great to have a wide variety of places to choose from. I’ll know it when I find the right school.”
Standing at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, Chadick has contributed 37 tackles and two pass breakups for the Corsairs this season. He acknowledges he has more to learn, saying, “There are always areas you can improve in, and that’s one thing I constantly try to keep in mind.” He aims to enhance his tackling technique and ball carrier engagement.
Carmel coach Jason McKie notes that Chadick’s true value is not fully captured by statistics. McKie said, “He may not have the gaudy sack totals, but his being so consistent in the way he attacks really stands out.” Chadick’s disruptive presence in the backfield and effective use of his arm reach are key attributes.
Chadick made a notable defensive impact during a Catholic League crossover game against St. Laurence, demonstrating his quickness and reach. Reflecting on his performance, Chadick stated, “I’m attacking a little bit more, trying to get into those gaps right on the snap.” His approach includes aggressive arm extension while maintaining discipline in his position.
Chadick’s teammate, Noah Breckenridge, acknowledges Chadick’s influence in the team’s defense. Breckenridge commented, “The main thing about him is that he’s really long… The first aspect of our defense is to stop the run, which involves reading our keys. His key is the running back, and he’s almost always in the backfield.”
Strength has become a more prominent part of Chadick’s game. After dedicating time to the weight room, he has added 30 pounds since his freshman year. McKie noted, “I wouldn’t be surprised if Chadick weighs more than 250 next season.” Chadick himself said, “I can tell a big difference this year in how I can use my strength.”
Chadick now carries more responsibilities as one of the older players. He recognizes the pressure but remains focused on his duties, saying, “As one of the older guys, I have to be accountable for my actions on and off the field.” Despite the expectations, Chadick finds joy in playing and concentrates on fulfilling his role on the team.
