The Philadelphia Eagles recently decided to part ways with Andy Dalton following a brief appearance in their Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears. Dalton, 38, stepped in when Jalen Hurts sustained an injury but was quickly sidelined after throwing an interception.
His involvement occurred as the Eagles trailed 7-0 in the second quarter, facing a third-and-goal from the Bears’ 2-yard line. Dalton, a three-time Pro Bowler, attempted a pass that was intercepted by rookie safety Dillon Thieneman. In response, the Eagles promoted Tanner McKee to the backup quarterback role, demoting Dalton from No. 2 to No. 3 on the depth chart before eventually deciding to release him.
Dalton’s career spans six teams, beginning with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he started for nine years. He has also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, and most recently, the Eagles. Despite his experience, he did not start any games during his time with the Eagles.
Throughout his career, Dalton has participated in 180 games, with 169 starts. His record stands at 84-83-2. He has completed 62.6% of his passes, totaling 39,793 yards, 254 touchdowns, and 152 interceptions.
Looking ahead, the Eagles, with a current record of 2-2, are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 3-1, in London. The game is scheduled for Sunday at 9:30 a.m. ET.
