The Milwaukee Brewers will be without pitcher Abner Uribe for one game following a suspension for violating one of baseball’s major unwritten rules. Uribe directed a controversial crotch chop at the opposing dugout, mimicking moves from Kenny Powers and D-Generation X.
The incident divided baseball fans and raised concerns about possible retaliation. Uribe’s own manager, Pat Murphy, criticized the celebration, and Uribe apologized for his actions.
“First and foremost, everyone here knows me, knows who I am, and knows I have a bit of a history of being emotional out there,” Uribe stated. “I owe an apology to the Brewers, my teammates, and my manager. I understand that’s unacceptable to react that way.”
Despite the suspension, Uribe is appealing the decision made by MLB. He also faces an undisclosed fine. The outcome of the appeal remains to be seen, but it highlights MLB’s stance on maintaining decorum in games.
