Tech billionaire Elon Musk has contributed $276 million to various Republican super PACs and organizations over the past three months. This comes as the GOP faces challenges ahead of the midterm elections.
According to a spokesperson for Musk’s America PAC, his total contributions have reached $366 million, as reported by The Hill.
Between July and September, Musk donated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, supporting Republican Senate candidates. Additionally, he contributed $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, which aids GOP House candidates. These contributions indicate Musk’s interest in political involvement, despite earlier remarks about reducing his spending for the midterms.
Musk’s America PAC, which he started during the 2024 election, has received over $76 million. Other donations include $10 million to the Lone Star Liberty PAC backing Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association, and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.
Musk was mostly inactive in politics until the 2024 elections, where he invested heavily in Trump’s presidential campaign. He also played a significant role in Trump’s cost-cutting initiative, the Department of Government Efficiency, which faced backlash for its extensive job and funding cuts across the federal government. Musk left the White House in May 2025 following a public disagreement with Trump.
In May last year, Musk stated he intended to decrease his political spending. He later expressed to The Economist in July that he became “too involved” in politics.
