Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to visit Nottingham today, marking their first joint charity appearances in Britain since August. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are returning to the city where Meghan conducted her first official royal engagements in December 2017, shortly after their engagement.
Significance of the Visit
Their visit has sparked discussions in Britain about its similarity to the roles of official royals, which some see as a potential challenge to the monarchy. Despite their high profile, a letter from King Charles III in September emphasized that Harry and Meghan are ‘private citizens’ and not working royals.
Visits to Local Charities
The Community Recording Studio
The couple will visit The Community Recording Studio (CRS), established in 1991. This charity provides young people with access to film, video, and music production equipment, helping them develop skills and find employment. The organization’s website states that their unique approach involves offering professional recording equipment to young people from deprived neighborhoods without charge.
Harry last visited the studio in September 2025, where he highlighted its significance in offering alternatives to violence for the community. He noted the ongoing challenges of violence and knife crime affecting young people, which continue to impact lives and families.
The Hubb Central Kitchen
Harry and Meghan will also visit the Himmah food bank to meet members of the Hubb Community Kitchen, known for cooking for survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire that killed 72 people in London in June 2017. Meghan collaborated with the women of this kitchen on ‘Together: Our Community Cookbook’, with proceeds benefiting charity.
In the cookbook’s foreword, Meghan shared her experience at the kitchen as a cherished memory, emphasizing the community’s cultural blending and emotional support through shared cooking. Her message highlighted the kitchen as a place for connection, support, and healing.
In 2022, the group shared on social media that Meghan had sent a message to mark the five-year anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy, inquiring about the community’s well-being and sharing personal updates.
Visit to Epic Partners
The couple’s final planned stop is to Epic Partners, a charity supporting young people through clubs, activities, and holiday camps. Harry’s collaboration with the group dates back to 2013, and Meghan met its members during their 2017 visit to Nottingham.
Epic Partners focuses on empowering change for children and young people facing challenges like Adverse Childhood Experiences and social exclusion. The charity’s programs include sports, youth activities, and mentoring, offering safe spaces and positive adult relationships to help young people build confidence and life skills.
