The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami reported that Hurricane Trudy has intensified to a Category 1 hurricane as it nears the Pacific coast of Mexico. As of Thursday, Trudy is positioned approximately 300 miles (480 kilometers) southwest of Acapulco, Mexico. The hurricane has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph) and is advancing northwest at a speed of 9 mph (15 kph).
The agency predicts that Trudy will approach the southwestern and west-central coast of Mexico this weekend. It is expected to evolve into a major hurricane by Friday, leading to significant rainfall. The forecast suggests that areas in the Colima and Jalisco states will experience rainfall ranging between 4 to 8 inches (101 to 203 millimeters) over the weekend.
