Rep. Ilhan Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, was recently questioned by federal investigators regarding an immigration fraud investigation involving the congresswoman. According to sources, Noor voluntarily engaged with investigators following a raid on Omar’s residence in Washington, D.C.
Noor, like Omar, fled Somalia as a child. Although currently residing in Kenya, she has been in the United States promoting her book, Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story. Amidst these events, Noor canceled a book tour event in Minnesota, citing a family emergency.
The raid on Omar’s home, conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), is part of a probe into whether Omar or her father falsified information during her citizenship application process. The investigation has led to the subpoenaing of approximately a dozen people, including relatives.
During the raid, federal agents seized Omar’s phone, passport, and computer. Her lawyers have since demanded the return of some confiscated items. Despite the events, Omar has not been seen publicly since before the raid. Her husband has, however, been observed performing usual household activities.
Omar criticized the raid on social media, calling it an ‘outrageous abuse of power’ by Trump’s Department of Homeland Security. She accused Trump of targeting her with inflammatory rhetoric over the past decade.
Fox News Digital also reported comments from Vice President JD Vance, who stated that the investigation is not politically motivated, asserting the importance of letting law and facts guide the process.
