Blakeman Criticizes Hochul’s Alliance with Mayor Mamdani

During a recent campaign rally, Bruce Blakeman, the Republican candidate for New York governor, criticized Governor Kathy Hochul for her partnership with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. He labeled Hochul as a ‘puppet’ of the mayor, accusing her of aligning with the democratic socialist agenda.

While speaking in Yorktown Heights, Blakeman, who is also Nassau County’s executive, accused Hochul of failing to address key issues like illegal immigration and crime. According to the New York Post, he remarked on her campaign efforts alongside Mamdani, stating, ‘Take him everywhere you go, Kathy, to remind people that this un-American, antisemitic, anti-Christian mayor is running the Democratic Party.’

In a recent debate, Hochul and Blakeman clashed over her support for Mamdani. Hochul has been visibly campaigning with Mamdani, notably at an event in Brooklyn. This comes amid growing influence of democratic socialists in New York politics.

Mamdani’s victory in last year’s mayoral race marked a surge in socialist-backed success, with several candidates winning congressional primaries and unseating Democratic incumbents. Blakeman has consistently criticized Hochul and Mamdani on public safety, accusing them of ignoring rising crime in New York City.

He called Hochul the ‘most pro-criminal governor’ during a subway campaign appearance, questioning the safety of commuters under her leadership. In response, Mamdani accused Blakeman of participating in ‘bigotry and racism’ following a debate.

Hochul and Mamdani have focused their campaigns on affordability and child care, championing policies they claim lower costs for working families. Fox News Digital reached out to their offices for comments.

Blakeman, endorsed by Donald Trump, continues his campaign against Hochul for the gubernatorial seat. The political environment in New York remains charged as both sides prepare for the election.
