Hasan Piker Criticizes Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s Immigration Policy Response
Marxist political commentator and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker criticized New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill during a livestream on Sunday. Piker accused the Democratic governor of supporting the Trump administration’s immigration agenda by her response to anti-ICE protests at a detention facility in Newark.
Piker’s comments followed Sherrill’s defense of deploying state police around protests at Delaney Hall, an ICE detention center in Newark. Sherrill stated that she would not allow disturbances to provide an excuse for expanded federal immigration operations in New Jersey.
I refuse to let that happen in New Jersey. I will not give ICE a pretext,

Piker stated he believed the governor was essentially doing the work for ICE, saying,
Yeah, I won’t give ICE a pretext. So I’m going to ensure that they don’t have to do anything because I’m going to do it myself. That’s basically what the meta is here for this blue state and its new blue governor.

Anti-ICE protests continued outside Delaney Hall, where activists alleged poor conditions for detainees. The Department of Homeland Security disputed these claims. Piker later accused Sherrill of advancing Trump’s immigration policies further, stating the governor appeared to act as though she lacked the power to stop the conditions at the facility.
The story is not the far-left activists continuing to rage at ICE in New Jersey. The real story is the horrifying conditions inside of this facility … and the governor acting as though she’s powerless to put a stop to it, and using what power she does have to basically work alongside the MAGA movement alongside the Trump administration, because these are state troopers in anti-riot gear on horseback.

Piker used the livestream to voice criticism of Democratic lawmakers regarding immigration policy. He highlighted that some Democrats supported related legislation, emphasizing the need for changes in the system.
Democrats have absolutely participated in this process.

During his broadcast, Piker supported billionaire gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer and referenced Mao Zedong, the Chinese Communist Party’s founder. Piker has drawn attention for backing progressive candidates and immigration policy activism. Earlier this year, he campaigned for congressional candidate Adam Hamamy, backed by the Democratic Socialists of America. Sherrill’s office did not respond to a comment request from Fox News Digital.
