President Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate acting Attorney General Todd Blanche for a permanent position leading the Department of Justice. The announcement came Wednesday evening via a video posted on social media by Dan Scavino, White House Deputy Chief of Staff.
Blanche has been serving in the interim role since early April following the dismissal of former Attorney General Pam Bondi. In the video, recorded during a Rose Garden Club Dinner at the White House, Trump stated his plans for the nomination process.
“Tomorrow I’m instructing Dan Scavino and everybody else involved in that very complicated process, which is going to go, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent Attorney General,” Trump said.
The decision marks a significant step in the leadership of the Department of Justice, highlighting the president’s trust in Blanche’s capabilities. Updates on the nomination process are expected soon.
