The race for the Senate seat in Maine has begun with a sharp focus on the candidates, Graham Platner and Senator Susan Collins. The general election promises to be both costly and heated.
On Wednesday, shortly after Graham Platner was confirmed as the Democratic nominee, he shared a video of himself participating in a community bike ride in Bar Harbor. In the video, he emphasized the importance of unity, saying, Everybody really just wants to help each other out. It’s the message that we need to take into our politics.
The contentious nature of this election has quickly become evident. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have started strategizing their campaigns, considering this election crucial for the midterms.
President Trump made his stance clear from the Oval Office, delivering a critical monologue against Platner. He labeled Platner a thug
repeatedly and criticized Democratic leaders for endorsing him. Trump remarked, He’s worse than any human being that’s ever run for office.
While Trump expressed only mild support for Senator Collins, he described her as a sane person
despite acknowledging she wasn’t his closest ally.
