Christian Leaders Gather for Summit on Antisemitism in Jerusalem

The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) recently held an emergency summit in Jerusalem to address the global increase in antisemitism. This three-day conference took place amid growing concerns about antisemitic content proliferating on social media platforms.

ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Bühler highlighted the significance of the summit, expressing the view that attacking Jewish people equates to undermining the core tenets of one’s faith. He emphasized that fighting against antisemitism is crucial for the church’s survival and global leadership.

A key topic of discussion was Replacement Theology. This doctrine suggests that the Church has superseded the Jewish people in God’s plan. Bühler refuted this belief by pointing out scriptural references indicating the unbroken role of Israel in God’s design.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and Israel’s newly appointed Special Envoy to the Christian world, George Deek, were among the notable speakers. The summit’s conclusion was marked by speeches from Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Ambassador Huckabee.

President Herzog urged global leaders to combat antisemitism through law enforcement, adjudication, and education. He acknowledged the significant role of Christian leaders in this fight.

Dr. Andrew J. Nolte, who heads Regent University’s Israel Institute, addressed common antisemitic myths. He clarified that from a Christian perspective, Jesus’s death is not attributed to a single group.

Christian communities in Israel face unique challenges. Israel holds a notable Christian population, with Arab Christians being a significant demographic. These communities generally enjoy better civil rights and religious freedom compared to those in neighboring regions.

Christopher Kuehl, co-host of the One New Man podcast, noted a concerning gap in biblical literacy among younger generations. He highlighted the struggle in conveying a biblically informed message amidst an environment dominated by social media influence.

Pastor Matthew Earls, representing Eagles’ Wings Ministries, emphasized the need for young Christian leaders to connect with Israel early in their careers. He aims to foster solidarity and equip future leaders with tools for dialogue and understanding.

Sacha Roytman, CEO of the Combat Antisemitism Movement, discussed the shared challenges between Christian and Jewish communities in defending their beliefs. He stressed the importance of tackling antisemitism and antisemitic conspiracies fueled by social media algorithms.

The gathering included over 200 in-person attendees and around 3,000 online participants. Attendees were encouraged to take new insights and strategies back to their communities to continue combating antisemitic hate.
