Pop sensation Taylor Swift attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, drawing mixed reactions from the crowd and ESPN personality Monica McNutt. Despite Swift’s presence as the most prominent celebrity among a star-studded audience, her attendance was met with skepticism by McNutt.
At the event, the arena’s jumbotron focused on Swift, who was in attendance alongside other celebrities such as Timothee Chalamet, Larry David, and Ben Stiller. McNutt expressed her doubt about Swift’s allegiance to the team, remarking, Is that Taylor Swift? She’s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here, girl.
Her comments differed from the general reception, as the crowd cheered when Swift appeared on the video board.
Notably, Swift has been attending Knicks games at Madison Square Garden since 2014. Swift has posed with former Knicks players Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire. During her appearance, she wore a Stevie Knicks
shirt, playing on the name of Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, alongside Este and Alana Haim.
In contrast to McNutt’s skepticism, play-by-play announcer Tyler Murray took a different approach. Murray quickly snapped a photo of Swift to send to his wife, showing enthusiasm for Swift’s presence at the game.
The Knicks faced a difficult evening as they were initially routed by the San Antonio Spurs. However, the Knicks made a historic comeback, overcoming a 29-point deficit to win the game 107-106. OG Anunoby secured the win with a crucial basket in the final seconds of the fourth quarter.
