Judge Orders Resumption of Immigration Applications
A federal judge in Rhode Island has ordered the administration to resume processing immigration applications. This directive applies to people from countries previously affected by a ban following the incident involving two National Guard troops last year.
The ruling came from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Joseph Edlow’s office. The federal judge expressed dissatisfaction with the Trump administration’s delay in responding to his decision last week. That decision required the government to lift the existing halt on asylum decisions. It also demanded the restart of immigration processing, which affected many countries.
