President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order aimed at altering federal employment. This order introduces a new category of employment, specifically targeting senior-level government workers. With accountability as the goal, this change impacts around 8,000 career employees.
These employees are those in supervisory and policymaking roles. Previously, estimates from the administration suggested that up to 50,000 workers might fall under this new classification. The actual outcome, now much narrower, indicates a more focused approach.
This executive order continues the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance accountability among top federal workers. While less extensive than initially indicated, the order marks a notable attempt to increase oversight within the federal workforce.
Office of Personnel Management chief Scott Kupor highlighted the significance of this shift during The Post’s “Building America” summit. His remarks emphasized the broader intention to restructure federal employment dynamics.
