President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Hispanic Americans has risen to 37 percent, as per the latest poll by The Economist/YouGov released on Tuesday. This marks an improvement for Trump within this demographic. Previously, a poll early last month showed his approval at 40 percent among Hispanics.
In the context of Trump’s 2024 election victory, Hispanic voters played a vital role. Although Democrats still captured a majority of the Hispanic vote nationwide, Trump achieved significant gains compared to past Republican candidates. Both political parties closely observe these shifts, as the latest poll suggests Trump has regained support with this key voter group.
Trump’s approval rating with Hispanics is currently 37 percent, while his disapproval stands at 59 percent, according to The Economist/YouGov poll. His overall approval is at 39 percent, with a disapproval rating of 56 percent. The survey was conducted from June 13 to June 15, including 1,549 U.S. adults, with a margin of error of 3.5 percent.
In recent weeks, Trump’s approval rating among Hispanics fluctuated. A poll from the previous week indicated a 31 percent approval and 62 percent disapproval. A separate poll, conducted from May 22 to May 26, showed a 23 percent approval rating among Hispanic Americans, with a 66 percent disapproval rate.
Reacting to the new poll, White House Spokeswoman Allison Schuster told Newsweek, “President Trump was honored to receive record support from Hispanic Americans, which contributed to his landslide 2024 election victory. Since his inauguration, he’s dedicated to improving life for all Americans.”
The administration emphasizes achievements like historic middle-class tax cuts and tackling inflation challenges. Schuster noted, “Hispanic Americans, after economic struggles under the Democrats, now have relief. President Trump and congressional Republicans continue the push for more affordable living for working families.”
Earlier in Trump’s second term, support from Hispanics waned amid strict immigration policies and mixed economic signals. Florida State University political science professor Andrew Ballard highlighted the importance of Hispanic voters to Trump’s success but noted the complexity with voter group overlaps. “White voters remain crucial for Republican electoral efforts,” Ballard added.
Beyond The Economist/YouGov poll, a Napolitan News Service survey by Scott Rasmussen showed Trump’s overall approval at 42 percent and a 56 percent disapproval. Conducted from June 3 to June 11 among 3,000 registered voters, it had a margin of error of 1.8 percent. Meanwhile, an Emerson College Polling survey found Trump’s approval among Hispanics at 29.5 percent, with a 65 percent disapproval rate. This survey, taken on June 7 and June 8, had 1,200 likely voters participating, with a 2.8 percent margin of error.
