Alarm Raised Over Democratic Party’s Financial Struggles

Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser Lindy Li has expressed concerns about the Democratic Party’s financial health. During her appearance on ‘My View with Lara Trump,’ she emphasized the party’s significant debt issues. According to Li, Kamala Harris’s extensive campaign expenditure and a shift towards progressive socialism have led donors to withdraw their support.

Li explained that political donors view contributions as investments. Many feel disenchanted due to perceived mishandling of funds. She highlighted the party’s lack of accountability post-election, which has resulted in unease among donors.

Li pointed out that the ‘autopsy’ released by the party failed to address any issues with Kamala Harris as a potential candidate. This oversight contributes to the party’s fundraising challenges. Donors, Li argued, are not interested in supporting a candidate they consider ineffective.

Financial reports indicate that between the Harris campaign and Future Forward super PAC, approximately $2.5 billion was spent. Her primary campaign committee reported around $1.18 billion in disbursements during the 2023-24 election cycle.

Li criticized the party’s move towards socialist policies as a primary reason many donors have distanced themselves. This shift, according to her, results in the party lacking substantial financial backing. Li cited instances where the party had to use their headquarters as loan collateral, showing the severity of their financial strain.

Furthermore, Li mentioned that pressure from the party’s progressive wing has influenced its leaders. She remarked that Sen. Chuck Schumer’s comments about a ‘big tent party’ were strategic, fearing a primary challenge from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
