Andy Cohen Defends ‘Real Housewives’ Amid Criticism of Political Views

Bravo’s Andy Cohen defended The Real Housewives series following criticisms regarding the inclusion of “MAGA women.” During a question-and-answer session on his Threads account, Cohen responded to a user’s query about the presence of supporters of former President Trump on the show. He clarified that the series is not political and underscored the importance of diversity in viewpoints.

If we didn’t showcase people with different POVs, there would be no show. Also, it’s a show about the women and their relationships, not about politics,” Cohen stated.

Fox News Digital attempted to contact NBCUniversal for comments but did not receive an immediate response.

Over recent years, several former cast members have voiced concerns about backlash due to conservative beliefs. Kelly Dodd, a former Real Housewives of Orange County star, was dismissed after making controversial comments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement. She shared her feelings on cancel culture during a podcast, expressing that differing opinions often lead to ostracism.

In a separate incident, Annemarie Wiley from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alleged that she was sidelined after expressing conservative views. Wiley, who initially identified as liberal due to her Canadian upbringing, remarked how the experience compelled her to reassess political affiliations.

Additionally, Jill Zarin from Real Housewives of New York, known for her association with the Trump family, criticized her peers in Hollywood for their lack of visible support during the Israel-Hamas conflict. She highlighted their past activism for other causes and questioned their current stance.
