Arizona Cardinals Executive Suspended for Gambling Policy Violation

Ryan Gold, the Arizona Cardinals’ director of college scouting, faces indefinite suspension for breaching the NFL’s gambling policy. This announcement was made following an investigation by the league.

The inquiry revealed that Gold disclosed confidential, non-public information regarding the Cardinals’ 2026 NFL Draft selections before they were announced. Details on the recipients of this information remain unspecified.

Moreover, Gold engaged in parlay betting on both NFL and college games. The NFL emphasized that their gambling policies are reinforced yearly for all league personnel. The league also reaffirmed that their investigation showed no compromise to the integrity of NFL games.

The NFL stated, “The Gambling Policy, which is annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, strictly prohibits anyone in the NFL from participating in or facilitating any form of sports gambling, and from providing third parties non-public information. Although there is no reason to believe the integrity of any NFL game was affected, the League takes any violation of the Gambling Policy with the utmost seriousness.”

The Cardinals’ organization confirmed that only a single employee was involved in the incident. Their statement expressed support for the NFL’s decision and underscored their commitment to upcoming training camp and future seasons.

Gold has served with the Cardinals for 13 seasons. Before his promotion to director of college scouting in June 2025, he held roles as assistant director of college scouting for three years and college scouting coordinator for four years. His responsibilities include overseeing the department’s daily operations, evaluating draft-eligible prospects, and managing pre-draft activities.
