For decades, Bob Woodward has been a prominent figure in journalism, known for uncovering numerous secrets in Washington. In his upcoming memoir, Secrets, set to release on November 24, Woodward offers a rare glimpse into the lives of the confidential sources who played pivotal roles in his most significant work.
Throughout his 55-year career at The Washington Post, Woodward consistently protected the identities of those who provided crucial information. His reporting, which includes groundbreaking coverage of the Watergate scandal, relied heavily on these sources. One of the most notable among them was Deep Throat. This anonymous figure remained a mystery for more than 30 years. It wasn’t until 2005 that Mark Felt, a former deputy director of the FBI, revealed himself as Deep Throat, influenced by his family to do so in Vanity Fair.
Woodward’s memoir promises to shed light on not only the identities of these sources but also their contributions to his work. By doing so, he aims to honor their impact on both journalism and American history.
