Body of Missing Woman Elena Moore Found in South Carolina

Authorities in South Carolina have confirmed that the body discovered earlier this week is that of Elena Moore, who disappeared on June 11. Moore was 39 years old at the time of her disappearance. The cause and manner of her death have not yet been disclosed.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office announced an autopsy is planned for Saturday with further information expected on Monday.

Elena Moore’s body was located on Wednesday near a gym from which she was last seen departing on June 11 in Lexington. The city is home to approximately 23,000 people and is located to the west of Columbia.

Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green informed reporters that a preliminary match was made through a description of her clothing. The discovery of her body was attributed to a tip generated by media coverage.

Chief Green did not comment on whether foul play is suspected in Moore’s disappearance. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is overseeing the investigation into her death. A spokesperson for the department did not provide a comment as of Friday night.
