Caitlyn Jenner Criticizes WNBA’s Stance on Transgender Athlete Policy

Fox News contributor Caitlyn Jenner criticized the WNBA regarding its stance on transgender athletes. Jenner joined Fox News @ Night to respond to former NBA player Royce White’s comments on the WNBA’s gender policies. Jenner accused the league of hypocrisy and called for the protection of Title IX.

The WNBA is currently embroiled in a debate about the eligibility of transgender athletes in the league. While the league has discussed the issue, it has not reached a clear decision. In response, former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White expressed interest in joining the WNBA, highlighting the ongoing discussion.

The WNBA had their meetings on this issue and Cathy (Engelbert), the head, says, ‘We talked about the trans issue but we just haven’t come up with a conclusion at this point. Jenner voiced her support for the International Olympic Committee’s ban on transgender women in female sports, arguing that biological differences give advantages that hormone therapy cannot fully address.

According to the WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement, only players who are women can participate. However, the agreement does not define what constitutes a woman, nor does it mention terms like “transgender” or “gender identity.” The lack of specific definitions fuels the ongoing debate.

A WNBA spokesperson confirmed that recent meetings covered various topics, including discussions on transgender athletes. The league strongly opposes any attempts to use these issues to demean or marginalize individuals.
