California Man’s Alleged Drug Stash Found in Rideshare Vehicle

A man’s alleged drug operation became compromised when he left a backpack in a rideshare car containing a significant amount of suspected methamphetamine, according to authorities. The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) reported that the rideshare driver contacted them Sunday afternoon, leading to the recovery of approximately three-quarters of a pound of the substance.

The drugs reportedly have a street value exceeding $30,000, as noted by the treatment directory Recovered, referencing typical prices that can reach $100 per gram. On July 12, 2026, government officials seized a total of 355.7 grams of the suspected methamphetamine.

“A suspect’s rideshare trip took an unexpected turn after he left behind a bag containing more than 300 grams of methamphetamine,” the SFPD stated. The events occurred in the Tenderloin neighborhood, a San Francisco area known for open-air drug activities, homelessness, and violent crime.

The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Jessie Ottman-Comb from Sacramento. Authorities collaborated with the rideshare driver to return the backpack, leading them to a motel where Ottman-Comb was staying.

During the motel search, officers found two cellphones, two tablets, and drug paraphernalia. All items, including the suspected methamphetamine from the rideshare, were confiscated as evidence. Overall, the police recovered 355.7 grams of methamphetamine.

Jessie Ottman-Comb was taken to the San Francisco County Jail. Charges against him include possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the transportation or sale of methamphetamine. Police stated that the investigation is ongoing.
