Chaos Erupts in Liga Mexicana de Béisbol Game

On Sunday night, chaos unfolded during a Liga Mexicana de Béisbol game between the Toros de Tijuana and the Acereros de Monclova. The incident began in the fourth inning when a runner attempted to score on a ground ball that was poorly fielded. He ended up in a pickle and was tagged out by the third baseman.

The runner, Tijuana’s Danry Vasquez, reacted by throwing punches after being tagged out. Vasquez’s history includes a prior arrest on domestic violence charges, which led to his release from the Houston Astros.

The tag from Monclova’s third baseman, Rodolfo Amador, seemed standard. Yet, Vasquez’s response was to punch Amador. This led to both teams’ benches clearing, resulting in a major brawl.

During the melee, Vasquez attacked Amador further by kicking him. The fight escalated with Monclova first baseman Ryan Hernandez clotheslining Vasquez, dropping him to the ground.

World Baseball reported that following the brawl, Vasquez was suspended indefinitely by the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol. Vasquez and Toros pitcher Adonis Medina were ejected, alongside Monclova’s Hernandez and second baseman Jecksson Flores.

According to journalist Rosa Lilia Torres, Hernandez suffered a broken arm in the brawl and was taken from the ballpark in an ambulance.

Vasquez’s behavior during the game has raised questions about his future in the league. His history and actions may affect his roster status moving forward.
