German-Palestinian-American filmmaker Lexi Alexander gained attention with a social media post following the tragic death of Bank of America executive Erin Piacenti. Piacenti was fatally stabbed in New York City’s Times Square on Monday, a shocking incident that also injured another individual before police intervened and shot the suspect.
Alexander is known for directing films like “Green Street Hooligans” and “Punisher: War Zone.” She created a stir by sharing a post with an altered image of Batman, replacing the bat signal with the face of Luigi Mangione. Mangione faced allegations of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in 2024.
The post by Alexander was flagged as containing “sensitive content,” yet it remains available on her profile. Alexander dismissed critics, suggesting they were part of a “hasbara,” an Israeli public relations effort. She referenced Bank of America’s past support for Israel and linked it to boycotting calls.
Alexander retweeted a post from a woman who expressed indifference to Piacenti’s death, mentioning threats from “Zionists.” Alexander claimed that a coordinated effort was underway against those challenging Bank of America’s alleged ties with Israeli interests.
This reaction resembles the unexpected support Mangione received after the alleged murder of Thompson. Some Americans, particularly from the far-left, have reportedly justified violent acts following high-profile cases.
Journalist Douglas Murray noted a trend of Americans rationalizing violence, referencing the 2025 murders of Thompson and Charlie Kirk. On “America’s Newsroom,” he questioned whether individuals should resort to violence for perceived injustices.
Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the Times Square stabbing. The suspect was reported to have a history of mental illness. Fox News’ Greg Wehner was among the contributors to this report.
