Cubs Prepare for 2027 MLB All-Star Game at Wrigley Field
The All-Star festivities in Philadelphia gave a sneak peek at the excitement the Chicago Cubs will host in less than a year. On Friday, the Cubs revealed the official logo for the 2027 MLB All-Star Game, set for July 13 at Wrigley Field. This marks the fourth time the Midsummer Classic will take place at Wrigley, making it the only active stadium to host the event four times. Previously, the All-Star Game graced Wrigley in 1947, 1962, and 1990.
Two other historic venues match this feat: Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium and the former Yankee Stadium in New York. Major League Baseball, working with the Cubs, designed the All-Star Game logo. It prominently features Wrigley’s iconic marquee and integrates typography from the marquee’s letterform. The six-point star, from the Chicago flag, serves as the hyphen in “All-Star.”
Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong unveiled the logo during a ceremony before a Cubs-Twins game on July 17, 2026. Crane Kenney, the president of baseball operations, observed the 2025 All-Star events in Atlanta and Philadelphia intensely, noting the unique challenges and opportunities of hosting such a grand event.
Kenney emphasized the importance of treating local fans well while welcoming international visitors. He underscored the league’s role in coordinating ticketing, activations, and logistics surrounding the ballpark. Despite the potential for a collective bargaining agreement lockout affecting the 2027 season, Kenney remains optimistic. There is no contingency plan for the All-Star Game, as they operate under the assumption that the season will proceed without interruptions.
Philadelphia’s All-Star Village utilized the city’s Convention Center and surrounding parking lots for events. Chicago’s layout demands a different approach. Most events are expected around Wrigley Field, while some, like the fan village, will be downtown. A host committee, including Gov. JB Pritzker, Mayor Brandon Johnson, actor Bill Murray, and Cubs fan Eddie Vedder, will aid in the event’s preparation.
For the Cubs, the 2027 game is a chance to showcase Wrigley’s enhancements. The renovations completed in 2021 provide a backdrop as the Cubs aim to keep energy centered in Wrigleyville. The pregame ceremony saw Baseball Hall of Famers Andre Dawson and Billy Williams, Cubs Hall of Famer Shawon Dunston, and others embrace Wrigley’s All-Star history. Each base around the diamond represented a past All-Star Game, with home plate symbolizing the upcoming 2027 event.
