The Dallas Cowboys secured a significant NFC East victory against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, ending the game with a score of 37-20. While the win was substantial, the game took an unexpected turn for Cowboys cornerback Cobie Durant.
During the second quarter, Durant was in the secondary, attempting to cover Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the end zone. Jayden Daniels launched a pass over McLaurin, which led Durant to fall hard on his chest.
As Durant lay on the field, unaware Cowboys safety Markquese Bell walked backward and accidentally stepped on Durant’s backside and groin area. This caused Durant additional pain, compounding his earlier discomfort. Trainers assisted him off the field, and he did not return for the remainder of the game.
Durant joined the Cowboys on a one-year, $4 million contract after spending four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. His tenure with the Rams saw him record 141 tackles and seven interceptions over 61 games. In a prior game against the New York Giants, Durant managed one tackle and a pass breakup.
On the defensive front, the Cowboys managed to restrict the Commanders to 10 points in the second half. Notably, Dallas forced a fumble on Dyami Brown, marking the game’s sole turnover. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels also suffered a dislocated elbow during the match.
Dallas improved their record to 1-1 for the season while the Commanders fell to 0-2. This win highlights the Cowboys’ determination to progress in the NFC East standings.
