Attorney General Todd Blanche stated on Sunday that the FBI taking over the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance in Arizona might not be the most effective approach. However, he assured that federal investigators are offering significant assistance. During an appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Blanche mentioned, “We are working closely with state and local law enforcement, providing both manpower and forensic support.” He emphasized the importance of overseeing a thorough and proper investigation without assuming complete control.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of the “TODAY” show, has been missing since February 1, when she was last seen in Tucson, Arizona. The case has captured national interest. Guthrie’s disappearance was initially classified as an abduction by authorities, owing to footage showing a masked, armed individual near her residence shortly before she vanished.

The FBI has been collaborating with local and state authorities, offering support where necessary. According to a Wall Street Journal report, while local and state agencies are leading the investigation, the FBI contributes to specific aspects. President Donald Trump also engaged with the situation shortly after the incident, assuring Savannah Guthrie of the federal law enforcement’s support through a message on Truth Social.

Currently, there are few concrete leads publicly disclosed by Pima County authorities. Todd Blanche conveyed that there are no new updates regarding the investigation, acknowledging the emotional toll such cases have on families. “I’m sorry to say that because I wish I had an update,” he expressed, noting the national attention the case has received.
