France and England fell short of reaching the World Cup final, but the journey isn’t over. Both teams are set to face each other for third place. The match will be held at Miami Stadium on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on FOX.

France missed a chance for a third consecutive World Cup final appearance after a 2-0 defeat to Spain. Up until facing Spain, France had a strong run throughout the tournament. They had multiple-goal victories in five of their six wins, including the Round of 16 against Paraguay. Across seven World Cup matches, they conceded only four goals.

Spain’s win was marked by a crucial error from Lucas Digne, who misjudged a challenge leading to a penalty kick in the 22nd minute. Mikel Oyarzabal converted the penalty, securing an early lead for Spain. Pedro Porro extended the lead with a second goal in the 58th minute after breaking past the French defense, aided by a pass from Dani Olmo. Despite France’s efforts, they could not breach Spain’s defenses, resulting in Spain’s sixth shutout of the tournament.

England’s journey ended on the brink of the final. They led Argentina 1-0 after Anthony Gordon scored in the 55th minute, assisted by Morgan Rogers following a long pass from Harry Kane. However, Argentina responded forcefully. Lionel Messi set up Enzo Fernandez for an equalizer in the 85th minute. Lautaro Martinez then scored in stoppage time, assisted by Messi once more. Martinez’s goal secured Argentina’s 2-1 win and dashed England’s final hopes.

England, now aiming for bronze, will face France in Miami on Saturday. The match details are:
