The NBA Finals have returned to Madison Square Garden for the first time this millennium, and it’s creating a buzz. The New York Knicks aim for their first championship title in 53 years, hosting Game 3 for the first time since 1999.
Historically, tickets to Knicks games are sought after, but this particular event stands out significantly. As excitement builds, ticket prices have skyrocketed.
At publishing time, data from SeatGeek indicated the lowest ticket price for seating in the upper-level sections was $9,990. Only two tickets were available for less than $10,000. On StubHub, the cheapest ticket in the 100-level was $13,115, marking this as the priciest NBA game in history.
According to the New York Post, referencing SeatGeek, the average ticket price for Madison Square Garden games during this Finals series (Game 3, 4, and 6) reached $7,149. This far surpasses the previous record of $1,965 set in Dallas in 2024.
In comparison to other sports events, only Super Bowl LVIII in 2024 had a higher average price of $10,497. President Donald Trump announced his attendance at Monday’s game, adding to the spectacle.
The Knicks secured a win in Game 1 on the road against San Antonio. This victory heightened enthusiasm and boosted ticket demand further. As Game 2 approaches, should the Knicks secure another win and return home with a 2-0 lead, ticket prices might climb even higher.
