House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, launched a criminal referral to the Department of Justice against former Special Counsel Jack Smith. This move came amid allegations regarding Smith’s handling of an investigation involving President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers.
On Tuesday, House Republicans disclosed six key transcripts that provide insight into the controversial inquiry led by Smith. The House Judiciary Committee made public the testimony from five of Smith’s prosecutors and a former DOJ watchdog agent.
Former Special Counsel Jack Smith is scheduled to testify during a hearing conducted by the House Judiciary Committee in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C., on January 22, 2026.
Within these transcripts, committee Republicans criticized investigators for allegedly misusing subpoenas. These subpoenas reportedly targeted phone records from over a dozen GOP lawmakers during the Arctic Frost investigation. Furthermore, it is claimed that gag orders were used to prevent these lawmakers from realizing that the Biden-Harris Justice Department had accessed their records.
This situation is ongoing, and further developments are expected.
