Despite Hulk Hogan’s passing last July, the spirit of Hulkamania marches on. In the bustling heart of New York City, right outside Madison Square Garden, Nick Hogan and project partner Rich Rosen are set to continue the legacy with the launch of Hulk Hogan’s SLAM Sports Bar. This venue will honor the history of pro wrestling and the legends who have shaped the industry, with the opening set for the near future.
Nick Hogan expressed the significance of the location during an interview with OutKick. He stated, “The location is so special, as it’s right next to Madison Square Garden, at the entrance to the Garden and Penn Station. It’s a central hub for New York City.” He added that bringing this concept to New York City, the home of Hulkamania, is a thrilling opportunity. With a design by ICRAVE, the bar promises a unique fan experience and a special connection to Hulkamania, creating an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the world.
Rich Rosen, a lifelong New Yorker, recalls his experiences at Madison Square Garden since the 1970s. He spoke of the monumental athletes he’s seen there, from Hulk Hogan and Bruno Sammartino to Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan. His vision for Hulk Hogan’s SLAM Sports Bar involves bringing the Hogan brand to New York City. Rosen aims to create a nostalgic experience with the design, offering patrons a journey back in time to when Hulkamania ruled New York City.
“We want people to step back in time to the 1980s and ’90s when Hulkamania overtook New York City,” Rosen shared. “This will give people a spot next to Madison Square Garden to reflect on past achievements and enjoy present-day sports events.”
Nick Hogan is committed to preserving his father’s legacy. For him, Hulkamania bridges different generations of sports fans. He sees Hogan’s legacy not just as a part of history but as something that continues to influence future events and inspire others.
In the SLAM Sports Bar’s main room, guests will experience a blend of past and present. They can watch old wrestling matches alongside current games, providing a unique space to reflect on iconic moments and anticipate future events. This, as Nick states, embodies the everlasting spirit of Hulkamania. His father believed that Hulkamania would outlive the man, and through this sports bar, Nick aims to carry forward that legacy.
Though Hulk Hogan’s recent appearances in WWE received mixed reactions, Nick Hogan firmly believes his father remains the “most important figure in professional wrestling entertainment.” He credits Hogan with bringing the sport to mainstream popularity, emphasizing his significant impact on wrestling’s reach today.
