On Tuesday, Israel escalated its military activities against Hezbollah, targeting several sites across Lebanon. This increase in aggression follows Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s directive to enhance military pressure on the Iran-backed group.
The Israeli military reported hitting over 100 Hezbollah locations overnight, primarily in southern and eastern Lebanon. These included weapons storage areas and command centers. An evacuation warning was issued for Nabatieh, a major city in southern Lebanon, indicating imminent airstrikes.
The town of Mashghara in the Bekaa Valley was also struck, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 individuals, including two children, as confirmed by Lebanon’s health ministry. There has been no immediate comment from the Israeli military regarding this incident.
During a video statement on Monday night, Mr. Netanyahu declared, “We are at war with Hezbollah,” expressing his commitment to intensify military actions.
This recent surge in conflict began in March after a U.S.-Israeli offensive against Iran, prompting Hezbollah to launch rockets across the border in support of Tehran. Although a U.S.-brokered cease-fire was established in April, violations have persisted with both sides accusing each other of breaking the truce.
The situation escalates as President Trump and Iranian officials show signs of nearing a potential agreement to conclude the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.
