Jackson Lahmeyer Suspends Campaign Following Controversy
Republican Jackson Lahmeyer has halted his campaign for Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District amid controversy over alleged text messages. This decision comes shortly before the Republican primary and follows claims reported by the Daily Mail.
Lahmeyer, a pastor from the Tulsa area and past U.S. Senate candidate, announced his decision on Wednesday through a statement on X. He cited discussions with his wife, Kendra, and his campaign team as part of his decision-making process. His aim is to prevent becoming a distraction to his family, church, and the residents of Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District.
“I do not want to be a distraction to my family, my church, and the great people of Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District,” Lahmeyer stated.
Former President Donald Trump withdrew his endorsement of Lahmeyer following these developments. While expressing appreciation for Lahmeyer’s efforts in difficult times, Trump shifted his support to State Representative Mark Tedford.
The controversy gained widespread attention due to alleged messages between Lahmeyer and a former Miss Oklahoma USA. Lahmeyer described the media portrayal as a “distorted” account and insisted the situation was resolved privately with his wife.
Lahmeyer confessed in a Facebook post to crossing boundaries through text messaging but ended all communication. He questioned the motives behind the story and the selective disclosure of communications.
Earlier in May, Trump had praised Lahmeyer as a “MAGA Warrior.” Despite Lahmeyer’s withdrawal, the race continues with Mark Tedford, who advances following a runoff election in which Lahmeyer secured 25.9 percent of the vote. With Lahmeyer stepping aside, the election for Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District proceeds without one of its notable contenders.
This story is developing and will receive updates as more details become available.
